IQ - Subterranea (1997)

IQ su britanski neo-progressive rock bend koju je osnovao Mike Holmes 1982 posle raspada njegove grupe. IQ je jedan od malog broja britanskih bendova koji su nastali tih godina. Bend nije uzivao veliki komercijalni uspeh ali su bili verni svom progressive rock zvuku i još uvek su aktivni. Bend se gotovo uvek protivio upotrebi pojma "neo progressive" i tvrdio da imaju sirok izbor muzickih uticaja. Album je izasao 1997 godine i jedan je od mojih omiljenih albuma ovog muzickog pravca.

Jesus Christ Superstar (1970)

Kompozitor Andrew Lloyd Webber i tekstopisac Tim Rice je britanski duo, koji je da tako kazem "stvorio" rock operu "Jesus Christ Superstar". Opera je 1970 godine objavljena kao studijski album, pre nego je dozivela ekranizaciju, a poznati vokal Deep Purple-a Ian Gillan je dobio zadatak da otepeva deonice namenjene Isusu iz Nazareta. U to vreme je ovakav poduhvat bio ne samo izazovan nego i nadasve hrabar, ali je definitivno promenio tokove rok muzike. Prvo izvodjenje opera je dozivela na Brodveju 1971. a 1973. je konacno snimljen film.

Radi se o rok operi izdavacke kuce "Magna Carta" i Pete Morticelli-ja a komponovanje je povereno je vrlo sposobnom muzicaru Trent Gardner-u (Magellan i Explorer's Club). Za nekoliko godina, Gardner je napisao i producirao ovaj masivan projekt a sama muzika je mesavina filmskog progressive rocka, simfonijskog rocka, popa i progresivnog metala, a sve to skupa krasi atmosvera scenske muzike. Na albumu dominira raznolikost talenovanihh pevaca. Glavni lik, Leonardo, dat je James LaBrie ( Dream Theater) . James je po mom misljenju, pevao kao ni na jednom albumu maticnog benda, ali naravno za svo vreme snimanja on je isao na obuku kod poznatog profesora operskog pevanja i stvarno je sebe nadmasio. Ovo je samo uvod u jedni fantasticnu pricu koja se moze doziveti na razne nacine u zavisnosti od senzibiliteta slusaoca. Ja sam inace veliki kolekcionar rock opera, a ima ih prilican broj i nisu bas predstavljene na pravi nacin.
